Shipping for the DOD

SimplyRFID’s On-Demand software is a Microsoft Windows application that helps DOD suppliers create DOD required shipping documents.

Printing in under an hour
A simple telephone installation and walkthrough of the SimplyRFID On-Demand 2006 software and the Zebra R110Xi will have you printing DOD MSL 129’s, Unit Pack, UID, and RFID labels in less than one hour. Telephone installation and technical support is provided at no additional charge for one year from purchase.

On-Demand grows with you
Initially, you can use the On-Demand Windows software application to enter MSL information. As your company grows to hundreds of shipments a day, you can integrate On-Demand with a ‘CSV’ (comma separated value) or XML file from your order processing system. You can even integrate directly with the On-Demand .NET objects to produce DOD shipping documents from your own applications.

Powerful Engine
On-Demand supports one user or one hundred users. On-Demand uses a powerful SQL database so you’ll never outgrow the On-Demand database. Tested with over 300,000 print jobs ‘per month’ and millions of labels, On-Demand can handle any print requirement.

The entire DOD universe - ready to print now
Using On-Demand along with the inimitable Zebra R110Xi, you can create 3,600 RFID Tags or, 10,000 Unit Pack labels -- every hour. Need a quartermillion
serialized Unit Pack labels? You’ll have them by the next day. Number of clicks? One. George Jetson would love this job. On-Demand can control several Zebra R110Xi printers - simultaneously - located in any of your facilities via the Internet. On-Demand can use all of your Zebra R110Xi’s and will connect to them and produce massive print jobs -- effortlessly. When your print job is done, On-Demand remembers every serial number printed and reminds you about the print job and serial numbers you used.

Military Shipping Labels
On-Demand produces the MSL (Military Shipping Label) on the Zebra R110Xi at a rate of one per second with or without the integrated RFID chip.
As you start using On-Demand, notification messages help you fill-out your shipments properly -- every time. These messages will show up as small boxes next to
data fields that explain the DOD requirement. Pre-populated DODAACs automatically update when you change them. Just start to type the DODAAC and a list of entries will drop down. Edit the shipping address for a DODACC and it will remember it for next time. As you create your shipments, automatic serialization keeps track of all the serial numbers you use by CAGE (Commercial and Government Entirty) code and NSN (National Stock Number). This means you can print one or 1,000 tags per print and On-Demand knows to start the next serial number at 1,001. On-Demand will warn you if you try to re-use a serial number. Once you have a lot of existing shipments, the easiest way to make a shipment is to duplicate an existing one. On- Demand can copy a previous shipment and automatically change the dates and serial numbers to speed data entry. Of course, you need to find a previous shipment that is similar to your new shipment. On-Demand can search thousands
of MSL’s or NSN’s to find a previous shipment. Wild-cards allow you to find MSLs without knowing the entire search term. For instance, you know the NSN starts with 2443* -- just enter a few characters and only display the matches. On-Demands powerful search engine handles millions of record searches in under one second.

RFID Tags
The new DOD RFID Mandate means you need to place an RFID tag on every shipment. You can print your RFID tags separately or in your MSL. Your MSL is
only used on a few boxes -- RFID tags are used on every box. Don’t clutter your boxes with huge 4”x6” tags. Pre-print your own RFID tags and peel - stick - ship ™
on your own. On-Demand supports the SimplyRFID Traveler tag, too, for even easier WAWF data entry. The RFID tags are printed with your company name for additional branding and can be produced on a 4”x2” tag, 4”x6” tag as part of the MSL, or 4”x3” Traveler tag. The Zebra printer does an internal verification of the RFID tag and does not require a separate external RFID reader.

Unit Pack
The Unit Pack label can be auto-serialized for multipack print requirements. While probably the most overlooked label, the Unit Pack is printed ten times as often as any other label. A single entry in the database can print thousands of Unit Pack labels. Several free-form fields allow you to add contract specific documentation terms.

UID - Unique Identifier
The DOD UID Mandate affects a few items over $5,000. But, this requirement will be moving towards all items supplied to the DOD. While UID has traditionally been viewed as expensive and painful, it’s not difficult for about 80% of all parts shipped to the DOD. The DOD mandate is really simple: Use a high quality tag, appropriate for your part, and make sure the barcode is printed accurately. We teamed with Zebra to provide a synthetic label and chemical-resistant resin ribbon that works for over 80% of all parts requiring UID tagging. The initial version of On-Demand prints a 1”x3” tag that can be applied to metal, plastic, or wood parts. The Zebra printer and materials are certified to produce a Grade-A UID tag. Defects in materials can cause the UID tag to fail standards and each tag should be inspected to ensure obvious flaws are discarded. If this UID tag is appropriate for your item, your cost per UID tag is pennies. Following the DOD Mandate, SimplyRFID also created a synthetic label from it’s Traveler Tag. This tag is made with the same durable materials as the 1”x3” UID tag and is weather resistant out doors for three years and indefinite life indoors. Using the SimplyRFID RFID Traveler tag to track your assets allows you to leverage your RFID system purchase for fast, accurate internal asset tracking.

System Requirements
- On-Demand requires Windows XP and the minimum Windows XP system requirements.
- On-Demand requires the Zebra R110Xi printer and a parallel port or network connection to the printer. A network connection on the R110Xi is highly recommended.
- SimplyRFID includes one-year of unlimited support for the On-Demand software when used with printers and supplies purchased from SimplyRFID. On-Demand will work with any Zebra ZPL printer, however, the configuration is not supported as a free technical support.
- Zebra R110Xi: Grade-A UID tags require the 300DPI model.
- RFID: On-Demand supports Class 1, 96-bit, Generation 2 RFID tags only.
- UID: UID will print on any 1”x3” label. Certified label stock should be selected.
- MSL: Any 4”x6” label will print properly.
- Unit Pack: Any 4”x2” label will print properly.
